BandJob

Hey guys,
I am just looking for some input on color/style. I am pretty happy with how the last few designs I've done have turned out (I JUST started doing hand-drawn stuff) but i think my lack of ability to color in photoshop is creating a problem for me.
For some reason it seems that when i do solid colors, ala. godmachine, my stuff ends up looking super campy and cartoon like. So i have been doing full color with layer styles and stuff, but that almost completely limits me from doing 1-2 color designs, and having a full-color-only crutch is not what i want for myself! haha

with that in mind, I was hoping you could take a look at the latest drawing i scanned in and maybe give me some pointers. This thing hasn't been touched by a computer other than fitting the scans together, its all pen and pencil.

I'm starting to wonder if im not doing enough detail or something and leaving to much up to the color? I do all dot and line shading, which i like, but this whole color thing is bugging me out.
