What other design work do you do besides band related designs?

Finnish parliamentary election 2011 was held a couple of weeks ago and I got to be a part of two campaigns. I designed websites, business cards, flyers, newspaper ads and stuff like that.

We have a conscription here in Finland and that pretty much means you have no other choice than join the army for 6-12 months. Luckily, I got a spot for the graphic designer of the Finnish Defence Forces' official newspaper called Ruotuväki. I had no previous experience so I was a bit surprised to get the spot but it sure was a useful experience. The best part was we had no camps, shootings, skiing or eating outside in the rain and all that shit in the last 7 months! I spent the total of 9 months in the army the first two being mandatory basic training. I'm not militaristic at all so at times it sucked big time.

Other than that, I've also done some random designs for a few companies.

Worked for a small ad agency for a few years. Hated it. Been freelancing for the past year and a half. Loving it. Even though I miss the security of salary. I only work with bands to keep me sane and to remind me that designing can be fun.

I do a lot of sports designs for companies like Reebok and Adidas. It's a refreshing change of pace from music design and their briefings are insanely detailed, which I love.

I'm employed by a non-profit agency where I work one on one with developmentally disabled people/kids with down syndrome/autism teaching them basic life skills and hang with them in their communities. Awesome benefits and I can take time off whenever I want for as long as I want to tour/travel. It's really great to fall back on and it allows me to make a steady income and still choose to do the design work I want to do without having to worry about a paycheck. Im full-time right now, but will probably go to part-time once I move into my own studio next week and start screen-printing /advertising myself more to places outside the music scene for design work. Wish me luck!

Since Decemeber I have been working tirelessly on "FlixFling" user interface design for iphone, ipad, google tv, and web. So if you want to check that out so far...we are a few weeks away from our launch date, with commercials airing soon, very new company, still working on getting better content.

Also have been working nonstop on the key art and marketing and advertising for ASerbianFilm, which will be release exclusively on FlixFling next Friday...check it out if you are interested.

They're not too bad if you know what you're doing and have some tricks up your sleeve. They're nice clean files. Some of the junk I see is ridiculous.

Sometimes I get lazy though and don't label layers and stuff. Trying to break that habit for the sake of whoever separates the file.
