Welcome to the community. Your work will need a lot of improvement before it can or will be taken seriously on this site. My advice would be to try to connect with the amazing artists apart of this site and put their advice, comments, and criticism to use/practice. Good Luck. -
Craig Robson on Mar 11, 2011no thankyou.

Jimmy Breen on Mar 11, 2011Yeah man, you've got a long way to go. You have a lot of people here who you can find some inspiration in and learn a lot of things from. If I were you, I would check out Godmachine, his style is pretty much killing it, and it seems to be in the vein of what you're trying for.
Find some artists who you can connect with. Just take a look at the things that make their artwork great, like shading and proportions and form, and try and apply some of those elements to what you do. -

Before you even do that--- go get some books on anatomy or maybe take some life drawing classes at your community collage or something. -

and go to school or learn to draw traditionally. the old methods of learning from life and learning to sketch WILL work. -
DrewGliever on Mar 12, 2011Uhh.. does it make anyone else confused/skeptical that this dude says he has a BFA in illustration?

-
Skull With Hair on Mar 12, 2011no offense, but it would blow my mind if this guy actually has an art/design degree.
-
pw! on Mar 12, 2011don't stop practicing every day, especially that sketchbook. drawing from life, or reference, etc, is going to be key, especially to refining your personal style. learn them rules and then break them rules
i think my favorite direction of yours would be "Bring her to Death". there's something very special going on there, especially the linework in places like the eyelids i love, although i regret that it wasn't reading as a girl at all to me until i read the title
i like your Chaos logo, but then again i'm a rather large fan of symmetrical unintelligible Black Metal logos. however, i personally think you don't need the photoshop effects one bit. there you have a logo that stands perfectly on its own solid black and white. even "terrible old man" logo could do without the stroked shadow.
practice every day. draw all the time. look at your favorite artists who inspire you the most and REALLY dissect what it is they are doing, and try to connect the steps you would take to getting there in your head....then do it.
regarding anatomy, go swipe one of those Hogarth books like "dynamic figure drawing", etc. i'm not saying it's the bible or anything, but it's a good overview reference book on how parts of the body work together from odd angles. you can take grounded lessons from life drawing and take it any direction you want from there; from Bruce Timm to Heironymus Bosch (who you may dig)
good luck and keep posting progress on this thread!

That's what I'm saying. SCANS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN -
Chaosartdesigns on Mar 12, 2011Hey guys thanks for all the input and references. I know my style needs a lot of work but I'm not giving up just yet. I do have have all of hogarths books and have been going through them for a while now. As far as the bfa I graduate in two months and the shitty part is my school does not offer a figure drawing class and it should be mandatory, so illustrators don't graduate not knowing how to draw anatomy correctly, but that's partly my fault for not sketching as much as I need to be. But i will keep at it and keep this thread updated for those of you who are willing to see my style get better-Bret

DrewGliever on Mar 12, 2011I really don't mean to offend you dude, but you wasted a lot of money if you're about to graduate and that's what you've got going on.

Chaosartdesigns on Mar 12, 2011I'm not offended at all. I love the criticism because it makes me want to work harder. I am hoping to get specific feedback though on what people don't like or think needs to be pushed more so I can go revisit it and make it better.

Just work, and work hard dude. you'll get there, but don't let people's bullshit knock you down. There are a lot of dudes on this site who are more sensitive than a 13 year old girl, but I see they were quick to give you shit. Do what YOU think is cool, if you do it well enough, soon others will think it's cool...and if they don't...fuck em, steal their clients and work you ass off, just be prepared to never sleep until you get to that point. You'll get there my man.
gotta agree with you db, i learn a lot from the design community like emptees, im not trying to steal or rip somebody, just learn and learn from great artist there.
this is my design from the last year.

and this is now.

i think there is nothing imposible in this world. keep on learning.. cheerss -
