zeblove on Sep 20, 2010Thank you all for participating in the first thread. SO many good pieces. I'm starting this one, because the other one is so full that it takes minutes to load everyone's stuff. With that being said here are some new pieces I've finished.
Comments and critiques are highly encouraged.
Lettering for a local tattoo shop. Will be printed about the size of a wall. Took me about 2 weeks.

Lettering for a Lady Antebellum poster.(I will post it the 23rd)

And this is a font that I started working on.

I think some of the horizontal pieces should be more defined. Like the "Shine" up top looks like "SHIHE", and I don't know what the bottom says. IHASH?
It looks really good, I think it is just unreadable.
-
MarcoBrunato on Mar 12, 2011It says "Shine In Ash" (don't ask me what the hell it means) i just work hard on simmetry, maybe too much.
Thanks for the advices -
Adhesive Hippo on Mar 12, 2011Yeah, if you would tilt the crossbar clockwise, having it at a slant rather than horizontal I think it will help distinguish the Hs from the Ns.
-
Andrew Haines on Mar 12, 2011Oh man I forgot how much love these threads. Yeah like Jimmy said, its hard to read, fixing the "N" s would definitely make it better

Deekin on Apr 17, 2011Built this typeface up from Arial or Century Gothic, or something similar. I was inspired by the font I found on the cover of an old book entitled 'Making Love'.
This was something I have not done before. I realized quickly that it isn't as straighforward as I thought. A lot of tweaking the laws of reality to make things look 'right'.
Mine:

The original:

Impure? I think it's a little too freeform, the U could look like a c and the R could look like an 8 or just an oddfigure 8 sign. I like the curving edges with the cusps though, so it certainly has potential. -

very hard to look at, far too busy. Appears as two different logos smashed together, the styles are completely different. One is sharp and gothic and the other is made of balloons. Better questions is why would you post if your opening line is "not very good at all", then ask for a crit. You surely will not get any positive feedback with an opener like that. If you don't think it's good, don't show it, no one else will respect your work is you can't even be proud of it. -
