Whats with the jobs section. I have not seen a job post in some time. I really wish that part of the site would get going more.

yeah i totally agree with you. we figured it would happen organically, didn't really take off. then we actually approached some people and let them know about it and nothing really came of it. if you guys have any ideas let us know!

if there was somewhere you could advertise it, that would be sweet. i just don't know of a good place to reach all of the bands/record labels.

I have no clue on this kind of stuff. Especially without spending money.
A brainstorm is in order though.

I imagine it's really all about awareness. Maybe put on a concert and invite the bands/labels you think would do the hiring. Let em know your serious. I'm talking out my butt here, but I think it would be good to have people throw any ideas they have out there.

    does this secion make sense?
to us of course it does. to other people it might seem like just another job board where they can post their jobs and since theres not much going on there it seems like there are better places to find artists. they don't know that this is a place where some of the best artists who work (or want to work) for the music industry come together. we have to make that more obvious to them

why do people choose to not post jobs on here even if they're approached about it?
it's not only that this section looks dead, it's also that they don't know what to expect. they might not even take a look at the posted projects and even if they do, they don't know who of the artists just posts their work and who is really available for hire. Some might even think it's a gallery site where you guys put up nice music industry stuff you saw somewhere else on the web, because many of those sites use such a grid layout on their frontpage (not there's something wrong with it)

what are the goals of the job section?
that is a question to be answered by you black axe guys. is it a) about getting the people on here some more paid work or b) is it important to you, for whatever reason, that people come in to post jobs like they are supposed to do now?
a)if its about getting people some work i think having only a job board is the wrong approach. i'd try to make this section into a directoy, a ressource for people looking to get some work done. Right now the job offerings would be relevant content to us artists, but it needs to be held alive by other people who are not part of the community. So someone coming in to post a job doesn't see anything relevant to him in this section. We have to make it relevant to him/her. Like i said, i feel like it should be a directory. That would also mean that bj-profiles do not only contain projects, favorites and forum participation but also services offered (split into categories, like the job section is right now, might need 2 or 3 more), if the artist is available for work, contact details and stuff like that. The job section could then be split into categorized list of people who are offering the service the person looking is looking for. There could also be subprofiles of the artists only showing works from the specific category the person is browsing. Another advantage is that this section could then be held alive by us as a community and doesn't depend on people coming in from the outside who might be one time visitors because they don't have that many jobs to post. Of course there could still be a job board but since there's other stuff in this section too, it would still look alive, even without any jobs posted on there. Some might contact artists directly about work, some might post jobs, some might just come to see who is available but in any case it would make this site more relevant to the people we make a living from and drive more traffic to this section.
    b) i'd need more information about that to come up with a real good solution. A specially designed landing page and an adsense campaign linking to that site for specific key words might be good and cheap. You know, that people who want to hire someone don't even take a look at the empty job board, but start on page with a small overview over recent projects and featured artists, but designed to make them post a job without them going through the empty job board first. If you are only looking for a solution that makes people post jobs without changing a n y t h i n g to the site, i'm sorry that i can't come up with something right now. To be honest, if you don't want to change anything i'd abandon the jobs section, because any dead section of a website makes the site look less important (and even if i'm not that active on here because of work/gf/old parents who need care, i love this site and it's important to me<3, so i don't want it to look unimportant)
