    These ones always stick out.

    Municipal Waste
    Baroness
    Doomriders
    Bones Brigade
@ Cambridge Knights of Columbus 2006
Always the first one I think of. Small intense show, shoulder to shoulder crowd with headbanging circle-pit boogey-board action.

    The Locust
    Daughters
    Chinese Stars
    Read Yellow
@ the Living Room RI 2005
    Wet floppy penis.

    @Harvard University 2008
    wtf?

    The Faint
    Ghengis Tron

    dance hard.

    Insane Clown Posse
    Twiztid
    Blaze
    ABK
    Dark Lotus
    @ Palladium MA 2001
I was 15, and really down with the clown. Parents said I couldn't go because of terrorists. Told my parents to fuck off (a milestone) and went to the show. Faygo and titties, and a guy jumping off the balcony into the pit. Came home and all of my stuff was gone. My bike tires slashed. Totally worth it.

I've seen Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, My Chemical Romance, The Used, 30 Seconds to Mars, Saosin, From First to Last, Rise Against, All American Rejects, Blink-182 all in arenas.
I know you are thinking, wow this kid sucks...but those performances blew me away.

Also, Balance and Composure blew my mind at Bled Fest this year.

Worst show I've ever been to:
    David Bowie 2004

not in any particular order, but here's a few...

High on Fire @ The Senator Theatre here in beautiful Chico, CA, Jan 2002
It was about 5 months before Surrounded By Thieves came out & they played nothing but those songs; effectively melting off everyone's faces.

    The Whip
    Dr. Becky Sagers Phd.
Riff Raf bar, sometime in 2003
If you don't know, The Whip was Jered & Scott from Karp & Joe Preston from The Melvins. Pure rock fury

Mastodon @ the Zocalo room 2002
6 people showed up. So we all got an intimate Mastodon show

Any & all Melvins/Big Business shows

    Neurosis
    Earth
    Saviours
Great American Music Hall, NYE SF 2008
    Probably THE best show ever

    Zoroaster
    Black Tusk
    Dark Castle
    Cafe Coda, last month
Holy fuck, Zoroaster is amazing. DO NOT ever miss them

    Converge
    The Red Chord
    Baroness
    Genghis Tron
    Sweets Ballroom, Oakland 2008
Jacob Bannon is the Tony Little of rock; you feel like you can take over the world after watching Converge.
Bonus best moment of the show was hanging out with a couple of the security guys after the show & one of 'em said the show was "like hyphy for white people!"

    Helms Alee
    Giant Squid
    La Fin Du Monde
    Cafe Coda, 2009

    Isis
    These Arms Are Snakes
    Zombi
    The Dip, Redding CA 2006
This was in a coffee shop that held maybe 100 people, possibly 50 after Isis set up their gear; a once in a lifetime show.

    Samothrace
    The Makai
    Monstro's Pizza 2008
    Samothrace breaks sternums in half.

    Thou
    Moloch
    Amarok
Sue's Coffee, Redding, CA June 2010
What is it with Redding & coffee shops? Oh well, Thou & Moloch absolutely killed it.

There's more, but that's all I can think of now...

Oh yeah! How could I forget this one?!?
    Jeez, I'm slippin'...

    Graves At Sea
    The Abominable Iron Sloth
    Fulcrum Records, May 2005

I miss you, Graves At Sea...
  • RustyEight on Aug 02, 2010

    Animals As Leaders
    iwrestledabearonce
    Dillinger Escape Plan
    Darkest Hour
    Worchester Paladium, end of 2009

Everyone was phenominal except for Darkest Hour... gaddamn they blew. The Dillinger guitarist spun his guitar around his arm like you did with a hula hoop when you were 5.

Lead singer chick from iwabo came out in a Furby costume.

i cannot believe you saw the actual fucking whip. they ripped so hard. sad homeboy died in that boat crash. they would have been way bigger.
  • Loomis on Aug 02, 2010

Yeah, I think the show here in Chico was their 2nd to last show before the boat accident that took Scott away from the world. It was an amazing show that I am more than proud to have seen. The Whip rocked so hard & we're all lucky to have had them around for a bit.

    best shows:
    darkest hour
the first time i saw them was just fucking intense, you couldn't move but kept moving because the place was so packed.

    hatebreed
that show was sold out and i was late but i could get in because the scheduled opening band couldn't make it and the band of a friend filled in (i didn't even know that when i arrived there). So as i was about to go home again because there where no tickets left my friend came over and wrote me on the guestlist.

    Bane
was probably the first time i was sober at a show because i was there with my straight edge friends who followed them the whole european tour, fuckin groupies lol. had a great time

    a day to remember
saw them serveral times, 2 times it was a great show with much energy and a wild crowd (but people looked out for each other). The last time wasn't that good, there were too many 15 year olds who tried to "hardcore dance" but didn't care about the other people, i saw two broken noses, some girls crying, bit of blood here and there.. i also have to say i enjoy them more in indoor venues

    august burns red
opened for a day to remember and bring me the horizon, i was really impressed

    heaven shall burn
epic! circle pit around the sound stage, they had to open the bleachers which they have never done before at concerts (venue was a sports arena) to get the people from the streets cause people who tried to get in where blocking all the streets around the arena. seems like they didn't see that one coming.
first wall of death when the bleachers weren't open:

    (crappy quality)
360° camera turn to show how packed the place was:

    jay z
i didn't expect that i'd like it but he really surprised me, he had a band playing his beats and it was a really good show. i didn't like him before, but he has impressive charisma on stage.

    Rise Against
They sound a lot harder live than recorded. takes the award for most sweaty show ever because we really felt like we fell into a pool when we came out

    Rammstein
Their show is fucking amazing, lots of pyro, effects, crowdsurfing in a boat.. don't like their music though..

others worth notable as very good:
story of the year, silverstein, funeral for a friend, the used, ignite, lost prophets, from autumn to ashes, danko jones

    worst shows:

    darkest hour
this obviously wasn't the same show as mentioned under best shows. Maybe my expectations where too high because of that killer show a year before this one, but they fucked up big time on this show. (girl who works at the venue told me they broke straight edge on that they and smoked pot before they went on stage)

bullet for my valentine (several times)
i really love their albums, but i have seen them live 3 times in 3 different venues and all 3 shows sucked. They don't get their melodies together on stage... at least not when i'm around.

    slipknot
i expected a lot from them and i wanted it to be brutal. but they didn't sound as hard as recorded, plus what they said on stage was more something i'd expect from michael jackson like "we love germany, germany was one of the first countries who understood this band, thank you, we love you". i know it doesn't sound that bad now, but it really sounded fuckin gay. i also expected some more pyro and effects (since that was the headliner show of one of europes biggest festivals).

others worth notable as pretty bad:
slash, 30 seconds to mars, antiflag, ghost of a thousand, glamour manifesto, emery

(yes i went to a lot of shows and no, i didn't write them all down here, there were many others that were between ok and good, but not good enough to have the privilege that i mention them here.)

    Here's one for me,

    Take Action Tour 2003
    Poison The Well
    Further Seems Forever
    Dillinger Escape Plan
    Eighteen Visions
    Avenged Sevenfold

    HOB Orlando, FL
It was my first time seeing all of these bands. I was a huge PTW fan back in the day. I really never liked FSF and I hated that they felt the need to lump them in with all of the heavy bands this tour had on it. 18V killed it; A7X opened and were touring for "Waking the Fallen". Also, DEP is the only band I have ever seen where the kids are moshing and tearing shit up before they hit the first note.

    Pennywise @ Reading Festival 1999

Anti Flag @ Bilbaolive this year was also incredible

dude i have seen so many incredible shows at the fucking Orlando HOB over the years. Probably my single favorite venue ever. no matter how crowded the show is you can always get a dope spot on the right side stairs. ack, so good.

one of the funnest nights of my life was when my band opened for the New York Dolls at HOB. we were the only opening band so the crowd was great and the infamous Stainboy actually made a poster for the show. Rad times.
