Hey dudicoths. First off, I don't think I've ever introduced myself on this site before. My name is Jeff Buchanan and I love to create things.

Moving on; I've been taking some time to lay low and do some personal design work to further my style and hopefully get some recognition for more print and ad work.

Here are a few recent pieces that I would like some feedback on:

    Any feedback is appreciated.

Here is my depiction of 'Lilith':

Here are some letters I drew last summer:

The Strokes are my favorite band. I drew these letters, and put all the song lyrics of 'You Only Live Once' inside the letters. I made it into a shirt, and a poster.

This is a quote out of 'Cats Cradle' by Kurt Vonnegut:

nice stuff Jeff. I love the second one. Keep up the good work!

Well I don't really have any work posted due to the artist code thing, but I did recently complete a shirt myself a few locales were hoping to get printed so we can sport them around town. I hope the images aren't too ghastly large, if so I'll have to edit.

    Four colors.

Jeff second one is really cool, I just don't know about the lady. The color scheme is really nice and it has a vintage vibe. What about a nest with over cooked eggs in it or something.

Yardley - I would get any of those tattooed on my body.

Zeb - You're crazy good. It's cool to see that you can pull off such a variety of styles.

Beadler, Joey, & Jeff - Thanks bromatoes.

Mainframe - Nice work. I think you should start using a different mock, though. Everyone uses it, and it's just really annoying to me. But hey, that might just be me.

Ash - Awesome to see how much you have progressed. I think that piece would look 10x better if you lost the outer glow.

Lazyeye - Thanks man. Yeah I can feel you on the lady seeing sort of meaningless, but it has personal meaning so I don't really expect others to pick up on it.

Yardley, please make some tattoo flash pages

Jeff, those last two are really nice. Keep it up.

Great Stuff Jeff, i especially like the second one

i like the illustration and the overall composition, but the type could need some work. It's a good example why i don't like those computer grunge fonts. if there are similar letters (like the e's, the No's auf the G's) they loose they grungy feeling because suddenly there's something symmetric and i think that this shouldn't happen with that type of letters. Apart from that it's a pretty nice piece.

I love those 2, your work is fucking great man.

Here is something from my personal playground. If you are wondering why i post only stuff with my screenname on it: stagecrew is gonna be the name of the design company me and my best friend are gonna start by the end of the year. So actually we're just throwing up stagecrew logo mockups all over the place, but we won't decide before october which one we take. We'll probably have too choose out of 200 or so. Here are three i made over the weekend:

  • MainframeMedia on Jul 19, 2010

Meh, doesn't bother me at all that the same mock-up is used everywhere, it looks solid and has tons of useful options within the PSD. Anyway, your new work is really a big improvement Jeff, I like the second one in the OP a lot.

Dude, the double lettering is the coolest. That had to be difficult! I really like the line drawing. I don't think the water colored version is ruined, but I do feel like you lost a lot of killer detail.

i love those woodblock pieces dude, what medium is that?
  • Killer Napkins on Jul 26, 2010

thanks man! They are pencil and white acrylic wash on poplar wood, with a polyurethane coating only over the graphite, they turn out looking almost a shiny golden look in the light.

Would you consider selling the woodblocks? I would love some original work, and a small piece like that's probably the only way I can afford it right now.
  • Killer Napkins on Jul 26, 2010

    Thanks a lot Derek!

Actually Josh I am ha.. Well I am going to wait until after the closing reception to put them up for sale on my site. Right now they are selling at $175 in the gallery, sold one at the opening, and hope to sell some more at the closing. Prices will change after the show.

I just picked up a Wacom Bamboo, I have always really wanted to ditch the pen tool and use a tablet. Just a quick sketch. I'd love any sort of input (traced from a google image for the main elements)

you should just go over the outline and text with a black pen or something.
Maybe some warmer colors within the text as well?

Deekin & Setup, both of you inspire me a lot.

    Here's something I completed recently.
