I am doing a cd layout for a band called In Spite. I did a photo shoot yesterday with a friend of mine. I wanted to show a before and after picture of my work.
This is the original shot I took:
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

This is the image that I'm pitching to the band for their cd cover. I took all the images this year/last year.

It would be neat to see your before/after shots of your images.

This is when I start feeling like the fine art of drawing is becoming more and more obsolete.. Everything I do is hand drawn and when I see rad work like this I'm like, "damn.. I wish I knew how to use a computer better.." Haha

Thank you everyone! I appreciate it. I did it in about 2 days. When I first got Photoshop 6 years ago, I would only do this type of work. Thankfully, I had a lot of time to mess around with teaching myself how to do this.

I took this picture yesterday at a Civil War village. The model was a guy I knew who is a big history buff. He got dressed up and modeled for the shoot. We didn't have any electricity, so all the lighting is natural. The whole cd layout will be based around this man.

I still need to draw the lettering and add the record title. But here is what I have so far:

I made one of these today, client sent me some family photos and asked for an album cover with the kids and dandelions turning into birds.

    He liked this one:

But I thought just one of the kids looked cooler:

Cutty: I do have a bit of an archive of debri photos. We have quite of bit of construction here in Pitt, and I just photograph as much as I can.

    Tim: looks pretty rad.

I would try not to completely black out his robe though. I think the grayish color would give the piece more detail.

I like what you did with the hair/eye. And the lettering is rad
  • Tim Iconoclast on Aug 28, 2010

Thanks for the tips Zeb, I really like the idea of bringing the robes greys and folds out more, appreciate the input man!
  • Jason Taylor on Aug 29, 2010

Looks great, Tim. I thought the same thing about the robe. I'd like to see the logo somewhere else, too. IMHO, It feels claustrophobic that close to the arm and edge of the image. Love the rain drops on the sword.
