Wow, pretty surprised to see mention of any SA artists. Let alone Afrikaans ones. Yeah, those dudes arnt that huge down here yet, they've been around for quite sometime, but this new single is their closest to stardom. That dude Leon Botha was featured on Carte Blanche (journalism show) last weekend, he's the oldest person with Progeria . He actually co-directed the video. His art is pretty sweet. I was never really a fan of Max Normal Tv and I cant stand Jax Parrow, but Im always stoked to see local bands getting international recognition.

Yo Landi got her peepers out in the paper recently. as predicted they are taking over. slowly but surely i have seen them popping up in my friends conversations and seeing them blogged about etc. i like it. its genuinely weird.

Please give a full review! I still haven't decided if they are retarded or genius.

the music the venue played was really fucked up. really boring motown (i like motown) and all of the slow stuff from the dazed and confused soundtrack. it was as if teamsters from Sesame Street's glory days made the house music choices. at one point, it made me really curious what Ministry would sound like chopped 'n' screwed. the opening bands were TERRIBLE. rye rye was annoying, unclever and used bullhorn samples nonstop - this is a peeve of mine from mixtapes over the past few years. the backup dancers never had anything in sequence with each-other or even the music. then waiting for die antwoord with more slow music was unbearable. 'radar love' was the fastest and most upbeat thing that was on the house music and then ...hearing 'love hurts' for a 3rd time while being tightly packed in with people was awful. then die antwoord came out. they were amazing. most people knew all of the songs and sang along. yo landi went offstage a few times to do costume changes. evil boy was chopped up because the other afrikan rapper wasn't there and yo landi's main part was cut out entirely, but other than that, everything was hi energy and fucking funny. they even played the enya remix that someone did a mashup of. pink floyd boxers came out and the dude wore a pikachu suit for the encore. i'm sort of cracked out for not really sleeping for 2 days in a row, so my 'review' isn't really all that great, but in short: totally worth it.

Sounds like a memorable evening. Perhaps they purposely had shit opening bands and house music to provide an awesome contrast to Die Antwoord...kind of like sorbet. Thank you for the review, sir.
