    Thanks guys!
I get the Alex Grey comparison on this piece a lot and that is a total compliment, so thank you! When the band said they wanted something kind of celestial, that was the first artist I thought of to draw inspiration from. I guess that came through!

Description

This was used for the album cover and interior artwork for Italian metal band, Dawn Under Eclipse. http://www.myspace.com/dawnundereclipse

The concept was loose on the band's part. They merely wanted a "fleshless figure floating in space. And planets with eyeballs".

Luckily for me, they were very open to letting me run wild with it, so I took a more celestial approach to the piece and not going so literal with "fleshless", but kept the concept in spirit with the colors.

I see the planets as being somewhat metaphorical in their awareness of the omnipotent being absorbing their crusts to take shape.
